Overview

Your workspace is the foundation for every expense, invoice, payroll run, and report in ParmLedger. A well-configured workspace keeps data isolated per organisation, applies the correct tax and currency defaults, and gives admins the controls they need from day one.

This guide walks through the initial setup flow: company details, fiscal year, base currency, and enabling the modules your team will use first.

Before you begin

You will need administrator access and basic company information: legal name, country of operation, default currency, and fiscal year start month.

  1. Confirm you are signing up with a business email tied to your organisation.
  2. Gather your company registration details and primary operating currency.
  3. Decide which modules to enable first (Expenses, Invoicing, Payroll, or Reporting).

Step-by-step setup

Complete each step in the onboarding wizard. You can revisit settings later under Workspace Settings without losing historical data.

  1. Open Settings → Workspace and enter your legal business name, trading name, and address.
  2. Set your fiscal year start month and default reporting currency.
  3. Choose your primary industry template to pre-load recommended categories and approval defaults.
  4. Enable the modules your team needs and assign at least one additional admin.
  5. Review notification defaults for approvals, invoices, and payroll reminders.

Tip

Start with Expenses and Invoicing if you are unsure. Payroll can be enabled once employee records are ready.

Verify your configuration

After setup, run a quick checklist to confirm permissions, categories, and tax defaults are correct before inviting the wider team.

  1. Create a test expense or draft invoice to confirm categories appear as expected.
  2. Open the dashboard and confirm your fiscal period matches your books.
  3. Export a sample report to verify date ranges and currency formatting.
